The project is being implemented in Haroa, Hasnabad, Hingalgunj, Sandeshkhali – I and Sandeshkhali – II block covering the Sunderban region under North 24 Parganas district.
Through 6 Vision Centres the programme has been implementing, which are fully equipped with Slit Lamp, screening equipment’s and instruments.
The project aims to improve coverage and access to affordable, quality eye health services, with emphasize on increasing awareness through various orientation session and improving attitudes towards eye health in the target community.
Patients identified with various eye related problem viz. cataract, lacrimal system problems (requiring DCR surgery) and Pterygium in the Vision Centre are referred to SHIS Eye Care Hospital for further treatment. Spectacles are available from the Vision Centre at affordable cost.
The project is well supported by Sightsavers and for which SHIS is thankful for their generous support in meeting up the critical gap of quality and affordable eye health care services.
With willingness, SHIS has been providing quality but free and affordable eye care services to the underprivileged section of the society. We welcome all of you to take part in our noble cause by minimum expenditure for one cataract surgery with IOL implantation is about Rs. 2,500 and your contribution will cover surgical costs, OT medication and consumables.
You can also contribute treatment of a Retina/Glaucoma patient to save from total blindness, saving sight for poor child by contributing towards eye surgery, sponsoring food, spectacle and medicine for camp patients and for inpatient in hospital for one day. Supporting for conducting of Eye Camps in remote areas.
